FREE College + Exceptional Support
ASCENT is a first-year college experience program for students following completion of their senior year. Students receive a free year of college at Community College of Aurora, Metropolitan State University of Denver, or Pickens Technical College.
Why ASCENT?
Why ASCENT?
- Free college of course. But more than this, the APS ASCENT program provides students with exceptional support, preparing them for long-term college success.
- As part of the Student Success Center, CCA students receive transfer services including visits to four-year universities and strategic advising, ensuring CCA classes align with bachelor degree plans.
- Both CCA & MSU Denver students receive assistance applying for scholarships and financial aid to assist them after their ASCENT year.
- PTC students develop 21st century skills leading to employment in a specialized field.

ASCENT scholars are dedicated to personal and academic growth and work hard to reach their goals. They are moving towards degree completion while exploring career options.
How do I Qualify?
How do I Qualify?
- Meet all high school graduation requirements
- Complete 12 college credit hours-100 level or above with ‘C’ or better by end of senior year
- Be college ready in Math & English *Not required for PTC or certain CCA certificate programs.
